As in previous years, the Tribe of Doris event will be packed with international cultural workshops and activities.

Our taste for a well-balanced programme has not changed, so as always, there will be a full range of non-musical activities such as yoga, massage and the healing arts, tai chi, a dynamic youth area, a children's area, and special events throughout the week to highlight the social and communicative aspects of the music.

Sacred Dance Spirit Dance

Releasing relaxing,
Dancer's bones
Deep muscles
Ancient memories
Present Joy
Sense delight in every moment.
Stretch beyond the limits
Of the imagination
Hearing the heartbeat
The rhythm carries you
Away.

Long time, way back
we sat.
She found us waiting for her call.
Play, she urged us
We played
until we learnt
how to make her dance
and move across the sky
like night and day.

Gospel song

We sang
Taken on the wings of emotion and melody
Together, soaring like birds
In the spirit of soul.

We held the night in our throats
chasing firelight
In the day we stormed the citadels of confinement
and rushed towards
a bigger vision

Courtesans of the doorway
welcome you

What is your desire?

Step a little closer to your dreams
Leave the burden of a colder life
behind

Take off your coats
your hats and masks reach out
and teach yourself
that which you always know
but continually forget.

Enjoy the elegance of life
The glorious
ultimate
giving!

A Sufi parable

In one of the great court banquets, everyone was seated according to rank, waiting the entry of the king. In came a plain shabby man and took a seat above everyone else. His boldness angered the prime minister who ordered the newcomer to identify himself.
Was he a minister?
No. More.
Was he the king?
No. More.
"Are you then god?" Asked the prime minister.
"I am above that also," replied the poor man.
"There is nothing more than god," retorted the prime minister.
"That nothing," came the response, "is me."

"Everything sacred moves in a circle."

Black Elk

"The drum is the great spirit's favourite instrument, that is why we were all given a heartbeat!"

Mano, Navajo Elder

Sometime I go about in great pity for myself,
and all the while a great wind is bearing me across the sky

Ojibwa saying

It is useless to waste your life on one path, especially if that path has no heart.
Before you embark on a path, you ask the question: Does this path have a heart?
If the answer is no, you will know it, and then you must chose another path.
A path without a heart is never enjoyable.
You have to work hard even to take it.
On the other hand, a path with a heart is easy; it does not make you work at liking it.
