The Body Control Pilates method is based on the work of Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) who created a series of exercises, specifically for dancers, to prevent injury and improve technical performance.
Pilates targets deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out without adding bulk that improves strength with flexibility.
This workshop will focus on rebalancing your body and bringing it into correct alignment. It will help to reshape your body which will become longer, leaner and more toned. It is also a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.
In today’s society, we are constantly encouraged to hold our bodies in unnatural positions that can cause all sorts of stresses and strains. Pilates helps with core strength, muscle elasticity, joint mobility, awareness of breath and reminds us to retain good posture and body alignment.
I have been an exercise and dance fanatic for as long as I can remember. Seven years ago, I was introduced to Pilates and was blown away by how much it improved my ability to perform in all types of exercise. So much so, that I decided to train to become a Pilates instructor and can now teach and share my experience.
“One of our main goals is that the whole spine should move in a synchronous and smooth manner” – Joseph Pilates
A body with balance, strength and flexibility is less likely to suffer injury.
