Afrofusion is an exciting, creative, high energy dance class. Utilising the rich diversity of West African dance styles, this class empowers students to explore their musicality, creativity, subtlety and power.
In this workshop, you will be learning a choreographed piece that is rooted in West African culture and developed through the fusion of other African dance styles. Combined with Kenzi’s unique choreographic style, live music and song, this class will develop students technique and creative expression
Kenzi Ireland is an experienced dance artist, specialising in African dance forms with over 10 years’ experience as a professional performer, choreographer and teacher. Kenzi has been a member of West African dance theatre company ‘Nimba’ since 2010 and has studied, performed and taught with various established artists in West Africa and the UK.
In 2013 Kenzi graduated from Middlesex university with a BA in Contemporary dance performance and as an DAD Trailblazer, she travelled to ‘Ecole des Sables’ in Senegal, for a six-week professional training course for students and teachers of traditional and contemporary African dance.
Kenzi teachers weekly Afrofusion classes in Bristol and works closely with several schools to deliver dance and performance opportunities. Kenzi delivers dance within schools, universities, communities, festivals, mental health and youth organizations, charities and prisons.
