What is different about Tribe of Doris Festival?
We are a social enterprise that supports communities; individuals and artists that are marginalised by race; poverty; lack of opportunity – and excluded from sharing their skills and enhancing their experiences .
The site is manned by 95% volunteers and your ticket purchase supports this. Last Year Borderlands a refugee support group, attended the festival as Crew erecting the structures; APOW a youth refugee engagement group delivered workshops and sessions in the Youth Area; Imayla a CIC that brings Marginalised Inner City children and families each year to experience freedom; nature and independence. There are many more Tribe of Doris stories that are featured in our Blog and Newsletters. Support this and more…..BUY A TICKET NOW
From the moment you arrive you will be greeted by our Opening Ceremony to inspire; orientate and inform you and welcome you of our Tribe. You will have the chance to take part in over 200 workshops; performances; ceremonies led by inspirational creative practitioners. Whether you want to refine a passion or discover a new one. The workshops will open avenues to develop your interests or delve into new art forms.
The programme includes:-
dancing, drumming, songs, poetry, art, yoga, martial arts, music-making and ceremony from around the world, ensuring you’ll never be a passive consumer of culture, but rather part of the beating heart that is the Tribe of Doris Festival community. Some workshops will lead to a performance slot during our Saturday Night Showcase which gives anyone who feels inspired a chance to celebrate and perform what you have learnt.
