After seven years at our current site we have decided to take a year off from our main event. We hope to be developing some new ideas and maybe running two small events in 2009 instead.
The first of these will be a Melody Doris. This event will be focussing on melody from around the world and the percussion, dances and songs that support and accompany it. We will have the chance to explore things like bamboo stick and calabash drumming and many other exciting traditional forms.
It will develop the beginner and advanced player, dancer and singer and allow for jamming and improvisation.
It will be held over the second May bank holiday from Thursday 21st - Monday 25th May 2009. As ever a mix of African, Arabic, Latin, Asian and European traditions, open to all ages cultures and abilities, this will be a delightful, intimate workshop based event full of Doris magic. Only 200 places will be available.
