5 Rhythms Dance with Bernadette Ryder

Level – Open
Area – Dance

5 Rhythms Dance is a simple, dynamic movement meditation that anyone – of any age, size, or physical ability – can practice. There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn, no way to do it wrong. Fantastically good fun, and a first class physical workout. Its deeper teaching is how to fully allow the body to respond to the natural movement of its energy. This simple exploration is a process of surrender to the flow of your own energy through dance. The practice rapidly confronts us with our inhibitions, our masks and other defences – but includes simple ways to move beyond them. As a dance, it is physically liberating and exhilarating; yet it brings quiet to the mind and a profound sense of internal stillness within movement. In the words of Gabrielle Roth creator of The 5 Rhythms “Put the psyche into motion and it will heal itself”
