Storytellers

Tribe of Doris (Doris) are looking for 5 storytellers who would like to come to our Summer School 8th – 12th August 2018 to spread the wonderful magic of words. If accepted we will offer you a ticket in exchange for your time onsite. We want to make sure that you have a lot of fun as well as having a chance to experiment with your art form. We are not expecting professional storytellers to apply, though of course you are very welcome!

We want to nurture the creative spontaneous spirit of the summer school. Our vision is to create lots of storylines from as many cultural roots as possible, offering opportunities for engagement across the Summer School with fire side recitals and spontaneous exchanges. The amount of commitment will depend on the number of storytellers we have on the team so this is TBC.  But ideally we would like at least 2 story telling sessions a day and some collaborations. We hope to work closely with you developing this part of the programme.

Dates: Arrive by 12 noon on Wednesday 8th August to finish 5pm 12th August 2018

We are unable to offer any meals as part of this exchange.

What we are looking for:

  • Storytellers from as many corners of the Globe as we can get.
  • Children, Youth and Storytellers for mixed audiences.
  • As this year’s cultural deep dives will be in Japan, Brazil, South America and India, we are especially interested in storytellers from those regions or who have deep cultural knowledge of those regions.
  • Storytellers up for being spontaneous with their work in different environments.
  • Ideas for ceremonies.
  • Stories for children

Tell us a story.

At the opening ceremony of Doris we invite you to tell us a story… (please read the description below)

The opening ceremony is a time were we set sail on our adventure in a shared space that is nurtured by everyone. Here is where we set the tone for the Summer School and unite people in the same goal of living, learning and teaching. What story would you tell as part of this? You can either give us a description or dive straight into the story. It can be something that you have written before but it needs to respond to the moment. Keep it short and to the point
