Celebrating Sanctuary has been run by Tribe of Doris, with our partners Bristol Refugee Rights, Refugee Women of Bristol, LARA and the Bristol Hospitality Network for over 12 years. It’s a FREE Festival of Refugee Music, Arts and Information, celebrating the contribution that refugees and asylum seekers make to British culture. It is suitable for everyone and there will be various info, food and craft stalls on the day in addition to entertainment throughout the afternoon. For the kids there will be a bouncy castle, workshops, henna face painting and art activities. Paint a star for each missing child to act as a reminder and a symbol of hope with a project called Stars for Lives – www.starsforlives.org.uk.
Bristol Bike Project will be offering free bike check ups and simple repairs, Kings of Ping will be running fun table tennis games and Pianta Verde will provide traditional games from around the world.
Queens Square is in the heart of the city and is easily accessible by train, coach and and bicycle. Temple Meads is only about ten minutes walking from the event and the coach station is about the same distance.
The exciting event will really open your eyes as we showcase some of the great talent within the refugee community in Bristol.
